Cherished Memories
“Boy Verne, lemme gee you dis joke….” was how many of our conversations started. Always with a joke to tell and a smile on her face. I’ll forever remember the countless belly-aching and eye-watering laughs we shared over the years. She never took herself too seriously, and even when upset, we inevitably still found something to laugh about. Auntie-A is what she was affectionately called by her godchildren, nieces, and nephew, and she enjoyed spending time with them. During our last phone conversation, I overheard the playful banter between her and one of her goddaughters, and I couldn’t tell which of them was having more fun.
Alexis had an inspiring zest for life and a strong curiosity to try new things. She constantly took on new challenges and stayed ready for an exciting globe-trotting adventure. In fact, we had just started planning for the next one, but alas, the Master Planner had another plan. She meant so much to many and was loved by all, but God loved her best and called her home to be with Him. We may not understand and will be sad for a while. However, we will find solace in knowing she lived life to the fullest and is now with God and the angels, looking down and watching over us all. We will remember her dearly . . . and may her soul rest in eternal peace!
